This page, and the rest of the site, had been primarily designed and programmed (?) by using basic HTML. We all have to start somewhere !! Over the years I have gained more experience and competence in other programming languages, for example : XHTML, JavaScript, DHTML, CSS, SSI and PHP, which, hopefully, makes the site improve, not only in appearance and content, but with more inter-activity.
I have read numerous articles and tutorials in books and on the Web, but there's nothing like getting your hands dirty and putting some of the theory into practice. Nothing has been prepared beforehand. I prefer the hands-on approach as to the paper-and-pen approach that "should" be used ... according to the experts anyway !. That way I can see my layouts for all their glory ..... and drawbacks !! One of the tutorials I read was Joe Barta's "Web Tutor". It was easy to follow and use, and anyone who wishes to get started out on a Web page wouldn't go amiss using it . Although he didn't teach me in person, I would like to say "Thank you, Joe".
The complete Web Tutor used to be free and down-loadable, but like some free things, it didn't last :-(
